The Vatican has been tracking and recording evidence of evil for over 2000 years in a search for understanding about Satan's plans. Until that day hopefully comes, though, here are eight other exorcism-focused horror movies to enjoy if you're brave: 1. The Vatican Tapes DVD and Blu-ray release date was set for October 20, 2015. It could easily mark the start of a new film, one that follows Angela in her "work," with Vicar Imani (Djimon Hounsou) watching over her every move.īut will it? It's too soon to tell, but perhaps an announcement of a second movie is imminent. Miranda Lambert, Jack Ingram, and Jon Randall will release a documentary film with their album The Marfa Tapes on May 8. ![]() ![]() After Angela (Olivia Taylor Dudley) is the subject of a failed exorcism that ends with the deaths of everyone around her, she becomes a prophet of sorts, performing famous and widely-seen healings across the world. Yet the biggest hint of all that The Vatican Tapes will get a sequel is its ending ( spoilers to follow!). Although its box office take certainly wasn't enormous, the movie was far from a flop, and horror movies of late tend to be made with the hopes of a franchise in mind. Reviews of the movie were mixed, but during its opening weekend, it had the best box office debut for a movie of its nature - so naturally, the question on everyone's minds is, will there be a Vatican Tapes sequel?Īlthough nothing's been announced so far, I, for one, would be shocked if a sequel wasn't already in the works. This month's The Vatican Tapes, though, stands out from the pack, thanks in large part to its A-list cast (Oscar nominee Djimon Hounsou and Ant-Man scene-stealer Michael Pena) as well as a genuinely scary plot: an epidemic of demon possession is occurring, and the Vatican has taped every exorcism. In recent years, a lot of the horror movies that've come out have tended to look a lot alike - found-footage shooting techniques, scares that are spoiled in the trailers, and an ending that can be predicted a mile away. ![]()
